Empowering Future Leaders: CPCA's Leadership Equity Program Launches Second Cohort
CPCA kicked off the second Leadership Equity Program (LEP) cohort in March 2023 at CPCA headquarters. The Leadership Equity Program offers a cohort-based program for participating emerging leaders and capacity-building for their CHC organizations. The LEP program shares a collective vision that all patients, their communities, and marginalized populations in California have equitable access to resources and assets that promote and sustain joy, peace, security, and well-being.
Cohort 2 is composed of 15 diverse, emerging c-suite leaders and executive teams from 11 CHCs and Regional Consortiums. CPCA is working with two mission-driven and talented consulting teams: Mmapeu Consulting and WE in the World, who are working closely with CPCA in the design, development, and implementation of the program curriculum and community well-being capstone. Cohort participants have started engaging in leadership training, including interactive in-person and virtual sessions, executive coaching, peer-to-peer learning, and a capstone project.

QualityImprovement+: Developing, Improving, and Sustaining a Culture of Continuous Quality Improvement
The QualityImprovement+ (QI+) program is a four-month, blended online learning program that supports health centers in building the foundational skills and infrastructure to deliver high-quality care in current – and future – value-based care environments. The QI+ training program is designed for health center staff engaged in quality improvement efforts at their organizations, whether as current or emerging QI leaders.
The QI+ course curriculum and instruction is developed and provided by Community Health Solutions (CHS), whose mission is to support collaborative innovation for health improvement and whose vision is of communities as the focal point to improve health and advance equity. CHS has deep subject matter expertise with over 25 years of field experience.
In partnership with CHS, CPCA has just launched the fourth cohort of QI+! The program provides timely, relevant content and the opportunity to learn from expert guest speakers. CPCA is excited to continue our partnership with CHS to support health centers in developing, improving, and sustaining a culture of continuous quality improvement throughout their organizations, with the goal of sustaining the infrastructure needed to provide high-quality care.
CPCA's 5th MedicalAssistant+ Cohort Launches with Health Net's Generous Support
CPCA’s MedicalAssistant+ (MA+) is a six-month virtual training and retention program that helps build the necessary skills a successful MA team requires, guiding participants towards career advancement and certification. The fifth cohort started on April 13, 2023. Twenty-five Medical Assistants from across California are taking part in the program with their program fees being covered thanks to a generous one-time scholarship grant from Health Net. Participants from the last cohort shared that the entire program “was very valuable … it was exciting, and I learned a lot of information” and that they learned “it’s not always just about medical care in this field.” Cohort 6 of MA+ is already in the planning stages and will be launched in September of 2023.
