Partnership to Advance Emergency Readiness using AI
Emergency readiness is the key to making sure that CHCs are equipped to assist California communities when emergencies strike. The California Primary Care Association, in collaboration with Direct Relief and Macro-eyes, partnered early in 2021 to engage in a project that would predict infrastructure readiness for every federally qualified health center in the state of California. Macro-eyes developed an interface that predicts infrastructure readiness at community health center sites.
While built to support COVID-19 vaccine administration efforts, the user interface becomes increasingly valuable as we begin to focus on the upcoming fire season and the need to make investments in resilient power and cold storage as we get closer to incorporating the COVID-19 vaccine into our ongoing vaccine programs.
Technology makes crucial systems predictive. Oftentimes investments require submitting a proposal for a grant, and even beforehand knowing that these grants are available. If we can know in advance where investments are needed, grant and donor organizations can proactively reach out to sites rather than having health centers rely on grant writing skills and personnel they may not have.
Validation of the Macro-eyes predictions will further build on the accuracy we have achieved thus far. CPCA encourages every member CHC to participate in this process. Participation is easy, and simply requires a name, an email address, and a few minutes of your time to access the interface and submit any corrections to your site infrastructure view. Macro-eyes is a virtual yet global company (even before COVID-19!). Once submitted, the email notifying you of your user login may take up to two business days.
