CPCA Continues Its Commitment to Leadership Development; Announces Promotions
As you know, CPCA began a transformational restructuring of the organization earlier this year. It is important to CPCA that we grow our own leaders, that we are helping to develop these leaders, and encouraging their ongoing growth. CPCA has a long history of bringing talented staff into the organization, mentoring them, and challenging them with interesting work. It is through our process of continual coaching and promotion that we have “grown our own” at CPCA and how we are working to lead by example. This restructuring within CPCA from the top down, acknowledges the tremendous contributions of our leadership team and ultimately positions CPCA for maximum success now and in the future. After 25 years, CPCA is poised now more than ever to chart a new course forward that strengthens the organization and further positions community health centers as leaders well into the future.
CPCA is proud of the commitment it has made to develop leaders from within, and most importantly, it was the outstanding performance, leadership and commitment they exhibited that resulted in their promotion to this level. Please join us in congratulating these newly promoted staff members:
Heather Barclay, Executive Assistant
Heather started her journey with CPCA in 2006 as one of two people in an administrative support role to the CEO. Starting in 2012 she assumed all administrative responsibilities herself, and over time has increased her level of responsibilities in supporting the executive team. She now provides day-to-day support to the CEO and Executive VP/Chief Strategy Officer including correspondence, scheduling and calendaring, coordination of speaking engagements, clinic tours, member visits, and travel. She also provides direct high-level support to the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, RAC, and Unity Workgoup.
Peter Dy, Senior Program Coordinator of Care Transformation
Peter was part of CPCA’s 2016 intern cohort and joined the full-time staff in 2017. In his position as a Program Coordinator for Health Center Operations, Peter is responsible for managing CPCA’s Patient-Centered Health Home initiative, supporting the integration of behavioral health in primary care, assisting in the Capitation Payment Preparedness Program, helping health centers to adopt and spread practice transformation strategies as part of readiness for payment reform, and providing technical assistance. In his role as Senior Program Coordinator of Care Transformation, Peter’s content area will continue to be supporting health centers adopt value-based practice transformation strategies like PCMH and integrating behavioral health within the larger state/county care continuum.
Emily Henry, Senior Development Coordinator
Since joining CPCA in 2017, Emily has been an invaluable part of CPCA’s Education Team. In this new position, Emily has shifted in focus from training coordination to grants management, overseeing CPCA’s Grant Opportunities webpage, producing and tracking CPCA letters of support, managing grant deliverables and reporting processes (data collection, synthesizing, drafting, and submitting), as well as developing LOIs and proposals for new grant opportunities. Emily’s most recent accomplishments include coordinating the information, materials, and execution of CPCA’s successful HRSA OSV, providing timely Weekly Grant Updates to staff, Grant Tracker training for staff, numerous grant proposals and reports, and her continued role with the Census 2020 work. Emily will continue to expand her current grants management work and take a more active role in data collection and prospect research for potential funding opportunities.
Isaias Iñiguez, Senior Program Coordinator of Workforce Development
Isa joined CPCA in September 2018 as a Program Coordinator and quickly became a content expert and strategic problem solver. Over the last year, Isa demonstrated great leadership during the Shortage Designation Modernization Project, whose process lacked clarity and outcomes had high risk. His holistic understanding of the issues and politics involved played a critical role in shaping national conversations with HRSA and OSHPD to advocate for California CHCs. Isa also continues to show his leadership through his involvement in the CalHealthCares Advisory Council, which developed a brand new statewide loan repayment program in the last year. Isa will continue to focus on workforce recruitment and retention and take a greater leadership role in partnership and program development.
Trong Le, Assistant Director of Policy
Building on prior work experience with NACHC, Partnership HealthPlan of California, and a major health consulting firm, Trong came roaring into CPCA less than one year ago. Trong not only demonstrates tremendous analytical skills that he applies to his own content areas, but has applied these skills to support other team members. As a strong regulatory affairs asset – tackling complex policy areas from managed care to PPS – he has taken time to improve regulatory affairs processes for the department. In his new capacity, Trong will be providing greater day-to-day leadership over the department’s regulatory affairs work and will begin supervising other department staff. In his new role, Trong looks forward to continuing being an engaging team member and bringing his positive attitude to the organization.
Janelle Mollgaard, Administrative Coordinator
Janelle has worked at CPCA since 2016 and provides administrative support for finance, operations, human resources, and for the CMO as well as being the back-up support for the CEO. She is lead in AV support and also works with IMIS data base management. She is the lead for registration at the annual conference and boutique events. She also supports the Finance, Ventures Finance, Governance, Clinicians committees as well as the Western Clinicians Network and Primary Care Network. She has also started learning CPCA’s accounting system and now processes accounts receivable.
Charlotte Reische, Administrative Coordinator
Charlotte has been with CPCA since 2015 and during this time she has made significant contributions to CPCA in the area of administrative duties, training coordination, compilation of data for the care transformation team and support for other departments across the organization. Charlotte has been instrumental for the coordination of the Care Transformation Team in-person and webinar trainings. She has taken initiative in scenarios where her help was needed, for example, leading peer networks in absence of the CPCA lead staff. She will continue to work with the Care Transformation team and provide support in areas such as quality improvement, PCMH, data, social determinants of health (SDOH), and EHR vendor connections.
Courtney Rodseth, Administrative Coordinator
Courtney started at CPCA in 2017 as a Senior Administrative Assistant, providing administrative support to all members of the Development and External Relations (DER) Department, as well as Senior Vice President and Chief Program Officer, Val Sheehan. In addition to this work, Courtney’s sales background has been a huge asset in helping to ensure CPCA has met and exceeded sponsorship goals, and our exhibitor floors for boutiques and Annual Conferences are always full. Recently, she has taken the lead on various projects such as the CPCA Newsletter, CPCA training e-blast marketing and continues to manage the Weekly Update and all exhibitor communication. As the Administrative Coordinator for DER, Courtney will continue to support the Department, as well as providing ongoing support in CPCA’s events, sponsorship, and marketing.
