LEP addresses an identified need for leadership development and diversity gaps in the C-suite pipeline and provides capacity building for CHC organizations to advance strategies and innovations centered around justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The program directly addresses the underrepresentation of leaders of color and organizational structural barriers that create inequities for current and future leaders. Also, LEP addresses population health disparities by focusing on a place-based approach to improving the health and well-being of California's communities.
The Leadership Equity Program (LEP) was launched in January 2022 to support a cohort of emerging CHC executive leaders and to provide capacity for their respective executive teams to advance the vision of achieving just, healthy, and equitable communities across California. The inaugural LEP cohort will be graduating this November 2022 and is composed of 16 individuals, 14 of whom identify as a person of color and who represent two consortia and 12 CHCs across the state. The Capacity Building cohort is composed of over 35 executive team members representing 14 organizations.
"As an Indigenous woman, I was always taught to place community and family before myself. It is a personal choice, a cultural tenet, a spiritual calling, and a professional responsibility. This LEP program has awakened deeper wisdom and is bringing me back home." – LEP Cohort Participant
"Extremely relevant - my organization is actively engaged with DEI consultants with an aim to becoming an antiracist organization. These learnings will further inform that work. I plan to share with my colleagues and integrate into our DEI action plan." – LEP Capacity Building Participant

CPCA welcomes all program alumni to our Connected Community resource to continue to expand future health center leadership, and build a strong network of leaders. Although we currently aren’t accepting new applications, be sure to check the HealthManagement+ webpage frequently for news of the next cohort.
Twenty-three health center finance leaders have just completed the first cohort of the newly redesigned Financial Management+. The program leveraged expertise from an advisory council of dedicated health center CFOs to develop learning objectives, identify gaps, and design the curriculum. We hosted an in-person kickoff meeting followed by 12 virtual sessions with presentations from health center leaders and experts on topics including managed care, rate setting, reconciliations, data integrity and analytics, and leadership development.
“All of the CPCA Cohort presentations have been terrific, Today’s stood out, highlighting the personal side of leadership… So inspiring.” – Program Participant
