IMPACT. ACCESS. INNOVATION. VALUE.
This year CPCA is celebrating its 25th Anniversary! Over the past 25 years, CPCA has enjoyed immense success. Originally created by California health center leaders in 1994 with minimal staff and minor investment, CPCA has emerged as the statewide leader representing the interests of the largest health center network in the country. In the past quarter century CPCA has grown a lot, as have our members. Today, more than 1,330 community health centers serve the state of California, and provide comprehensive, high quality care to nearly 7 million people – that’s 1 in every 6 Californians!
In honor of our successes, we have focused the first half of our 25th Anniversary year on celebrating the IMPACT CPCA has had as an organization, the positive IMPACT that health centers have in their communities, and our continuous fight for ACCESS to care for all Californians.
As the state’s health center network has grown, so has CPCA’s impact on the health care system overall – evidenced by ongoing improvement seen in the areas of both quality and care. CPCA operates a robust training and technical assistance program with health center-specific and clinical expertise and hosts numerous conferences throughout the year. CPCA has also continued to build a strong and impactful policy and advocacy department, which has enjoyed a successful record in advocating for the issues and concerns of California’s health centers and the patients they serve – and formed a c(4) organization, CaliforniaHealth+ Advocates in 2016 to make a greater impact at both the state and federal level.
Aiming to ensure a full spectrum of services are easily and readily accessible to their communities, health centers provide an array of care from medical to dental to behavioral health care, as well as a variety of enabling services, like transportation and dietary counseling. In many rural communities throughout California, community health centers serve as the only source of medical and wellness care for middle – and working-class families. CPCA, and our member health centers, have worked together over the past 25 years to continue the fight for Health4All here in the golden state – ensuring that All Californians have access to care regardless of their ability to pay, their insurance coverage or their immigration status.
CPCA is proud of community health center growth and the growth of our association over the past 25 years, which has been made possible by our coordination with the Regional Associations of California (RAC), and we look forward to all that we hope to accomplish in the next 25 along with the continued support of the RAC. We are embarking on a golden era of community health in California and we are extremely proud to represent community health centers and all of the great work they do.
For our 25th Anniversary, we’d like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our staff and our members in making health care accessible for California’s diverse population. We hope you will join us in celebrating our 25th Anniversary throughout the year by sharing your story on social media with the hashtag #CPCA25, or by submitting your video to our 25th Anniversary video contest.
